Woody - #08-080
Male - 1 1/2 years

Woody is a typical case of a family getting a dog that wasn’t a good match for their circumstances.

Woody is a very pretty young male (1 ½ years) who was purchased as a puppy from a breeder in Puerto Rico. Woody has grown into an energetic, good-natured and playful young dog that became too lively for the family’s tiny 5-year-old girl daughter.

By the time Woody was a year and a half, his family kept him tied out in the back yard on a long line. He obviously didn’t get much exercise, so he had tons of energy to burn off and guess what? He started to chew everything in reach and dig out of the yard. His owner discussed Woody's situation with a co-worker who suggested they contact GRRNT.

His foster dad says: “Woody's great. He IS full of energy…” but he does know some commands (sit, down, go to your crate, etc.) and he appears to be housebroken.

He loves to play with both two- and four-legged creatures. Although he shouldn’t be in a home with a small child, Woody loves children and plays all the time with his foster dad’s teenage son. He was a little shy at first with the other dogs but has come a long, long way in foster care, and now thoroughly enjoys playing with his canine companions, so much so that they sometimes have to give Woody a timeout so the other dogs can rest! He loves the water but needs work on his fetching skills.

Because he grew up outside, Woody would prefer to stay out if his foster dad would let him – he usually has to leash him to get him inside. But there have been no signs of destruction in the house, because Woody is getting the exercise and companionship he wants and needs.

Woody needs a family that can keep up with his playfulness and exuberance, he will require daily energy-burning exercise, and someone who will continue his training and socialize him with other dogs too.

If you are looking for a beautiful dog who just needs love and attention (and exercise) to become a playful, loving companion, Woody is the boy for you!
