Titus - #08-051
Male - 1 year
Titus is a very big, very loving male who’s somewhere between 1 and 1½ years
old. He spends a lot of time playing with his foster brother and sister, but he
really loves interacting with humans. The problem is that he hasn’t had much
training. And he can be quite rambunctious so he may not be right for a family
with small children.
Titus does know “sit”, “down” and shake. And he’s proven to be a very quick
learner… sometimes too quick, according to his foster Dad. He will continue to
need training but does fine on leash. However, he’ll need to be watched closely
until he’s trained, because if you let him off the leash right now, he will
bolt. He does ride well in a car.
Because he hasn’t yet learned how to act properly around people, he has one bad
habit: when he wants attention, he’ll grab at you with his paw. Since his paws
are huge, you will feel the invite and he may leave marks, so he’ll need a firm
hand to let him know this isn’t acceptable. And since he can put his paws on
his foster dad’s shoulder (he’s 6’6”), and likes to get in your face for some
loving, he’ll definitely need a family who is comfortable with a big dog. He’s
about 75 lbs now and still needs to put on weight.
But his Dad says he’ll crawl in bed and cuddle up next to you, lay his head on
your pillow and let you know you’re the best.
Titus loves water. He chases and runs with his foster brother at a friend’s
pond. He jumps in and splashes and swims all over then runs along the edge,
chasing the other dogs. He loves to run through the fields hunting – If he
smells a rabbit or bird, he is tenacious in rooting it out of the brush.
After a bit of hunting, he and his foster sister love to run long distances
chasing each other through the fields trying to catch each other. Titus is a
very active boy and needs lots of exercise to keep him happy.
Around the house he is a curious boy. Everything is a new adventure, including
shredding a roll or two or six of toilet paper. Titus definitely needs a puppy
proof house where things are not lying around. And being such a tall boy (he
can sky with Dirk), you’ll need get everything off the counters, at least until
he’s trained.
Titus will do fine in either a single dog home or a multi dog home, but because
he’s used to playing with other dogs, he would probably prefer to have at least
one sibling. If a family lived near large open fields, or some other place
where he could run a lot (not close to an open road or gate), that would suit
him to a tee. Because he loves to chase and hunt, Titus should not be in a home
with cats.
In short, Titus is a big bundle of love and energy, just looking for a family
who’ll appreciate his giant-sized Golden heart and soul.
