Sadie - #08-089
Female - 2 years
Sadie is probably one of the sweetest dogs you will ever encounter. This
loveable 2 year old girl is very calm and quiet and has never met a stranger.
Her wonderful demeanor makes the beginning of her story even sadder.
Sadie’s previous owner dropped her off at a local shelter while she was
delivering a litter of puppies. Thankfully the vet at the shelter took them all
in and got the family to GRRNT.
Sadie was underweight, covered in ticks, had pneumonia, and tested positive for
heartworms. She also required an emergency C-section and spay due to a severe
infection caused by a retained puppy. She went through all of this while
tending to a litter of puppies. This sweet girl is finally on the mend and is
doing great. She will require heartworm treatment once her puppies are weaned
but otherwise she is in good health.
Despite everything that she has been through, Sadie is a wonderful dog with a
fabulous personality. She is good with people and animals of all ages and
sizes. It appears that she is housebroken, as she has not had any indoor
accidents and she is also crate trained. She does not always like to get in her
kennel but once inside she rests quietly.
After all of her medical problems, she is finally getting her strength back and
is proving to be quite a retriever and likes to play outdoors. She also enjoys
going to the park, taking walks, and LOVES to play in the water. Fortunately,
she has wonderful manners and stays relatively calm and quiet indoors. Inside
she spends her time napping on the cool tile floor or playing with her toys.
She does have a tendency to counter surf but we are working diligently to break
this habit. She is a quick learner and her foster parents have no doubt she
will quickly realize that counter surfing is a “no no”.
Sadie will require at least 8 weeks of heartworm treatment and might be ready
for her new home by the end of the summer. Since she has been shuffled around
to several different vets and fosters, Sadie can be a little shy. She needs a
forever home that will give her lots of love, attention, and kindness as she
gets used to her new surroundings.
This beautiful redhead is truly the sweetest, gentlest dog you could ask for
and she will do wonderfully in any loving home.
