Rusty is a gentle soul who came to us needing a just a bit of TLC, but he has blossomed into a handsome and friendly fellow! He is about 10 years old, weighs 78 pounds, and is in very good health and spirits. His previous family had to give him up because they were dealing with a terminal illness in their family and could no longer care for him.

Rusty is very spry for his age, with no apparent hip problems and once he gets up and going, he is raring to go. He has come to look forward to and enjoy his daily walks - exploring the neighborhood and saying hello to everyone he meets. He walks very well on a leash, responds well to direction and knows basic commands, such as "sit", "down" and "shake". As a senior, he is completely housebroken.

While he is quite active for his age, he is very content just to relax in the house and wants nothing more than to sit next to or accompany his foster parents, especially his Foster Mom. He's shown no inclination to "counter surf" or get at anything that is off limits. He had a benign fatty lump removed and has recovered remarkably well. In short, he has been a joy to foster and a fun boy to be around.

Rusty is very mild mannered and immediately bonded with his five siblings, his Golden brother, two Golden sisters, a Lab sister, and a cat as well! If he can handle that, he can handle anything.

Because of his quiet good nature and calm demeanor, Rusty would make a fine addition to any family looking for a low maintenance companion. He requires very little except for lots of love and nice warm place to lay his head at night – he’ll move right into your heart!
