Roscoe - #08-022
Male - 4 years

Roscoe is a big, goofy 4 year old male who will be ready to be adopted in 5-6 weeks, as he is currently undergoing heartworm treatment. He is a big boy standing 25 ˝” tall at the shoulder and weighing in at 90 lean pounds with a beautiful light gold coat. He was shaved prior to coming to rescue, but his coat is growing back very thick and lustrous.

In the short time Roscoe has been with us he has proven himself to be a silly boy who loves attention, toys and chewing on the sterilized bones. His favorite thing to do is roll back and forth on his back making silly groaning noises. Roscoe is a “talker” and will let out little whines and groans when you first get home and let him out of his crate.

He gets along well with his two foster sisters and really wants to play and wrestle with them. He appears to be housebroken (we’ve had no accidents) and will lie quietly in the room with us chewing on a bone or playing with a toy when we are watching TV. He does try to “hoard” the toys and bones by gathering them up and lying with them between his legs and will try and take them from the other 2 dogs but backs down quickly if they growl at him. He has not chewed up anything inappropriate.

He gets really excited by the leash and will pull hard if he sees something interesting in the yard. We believe this is partly due to the fact that he is allowed no exercise while he’s being treated for his heartworm, and he’s only allowed outside on a leash to potty. Once his heartworm treatment is completed and he’s allowed to play and exercise, we believe he will have that perfect combination of playful exuberance outside and calmness inside. Roscoe does know his basic obedience commands but could use a refresher course to be reminded that he is supposed to listen to those commands.

He acts like a big gangly puppy so he would probably be too big for small kids but would love kids over the age of 10. He leaves our indoor cat alone but is extremely interested in the squirrels and bunnies in the yard.

Overall Roscoe is a beautiful Golden Boy that would make the perfect addition to an active family that had other dogs or who is home a lot and wants to make him the center of attention!

Please check back for more updates on Roscoe as he progresses through his treatment and we get to know him better.
