Maddie - #07-143
Female - 4 years
Because Maddie was brought to us by her owners, her story is better than most.
Her family got her as a Christmas puppy in 2002 and she started her life as a
house dog. But her family moved her outside when they got a second dog and from
that point on, she didn’t get much attention. When the family moved to a new
house, there simply wasn’t room in their new life for her. We have Maddie’s AKC
registration papers and know her history.
Maddie’s a sweet, happy dog. She’s a little timid at first but warms up very
quickly and just loves to be near you. She really prefers to sleep on the bed
(are you looking for company?) but she is also just fine in her crate.
She appears to be housebroken, walks well on a leash, and knows her name and
“No”. Although she doesn’t seem to know much more than “Sit”, we think that
Maddie will be very easy to train because she’s already starting to learn
things just by watching. We don’t know how she will do with cats, but she
should be fine with children.
She gets along well with her foster sibling and loves to wrestle with him, but
seems to be quieter and calmer when she’s by herself. She competes with him for
attention, but always nicely. She may chew a little when bored or nervous, but
a true “forever” home and a chew toy is probably all she needs. She is just
getting over an ear infection, and her ears will always probably need some
attention.
We think Maddie would be perfect as an only dog in a household that wants a
real companion – she will always be there, waiting to give you all the love she
has.
