Amos - #08-008
Male - 4 years
Amos is a super-sweet boy with a beautiful, expressive face – and he needs a loving home.
He was abandoned in the Grand Prairie area, which seems amazing because he’s so wonderful! He’s house-trained, crate-trained, and knows the commands “sit,” “shake,” and “lie down.” He's also housebroken, with no “accidents” in Foster Mom’s home. Whatever his previous circumstances, he has not had good health care or nutrition lately. He loves his yummy new “menu,” of course, and has begun heartworm treatments. (Great news: Our GRRNT Vet says Amos can be expected to be perfectly strong and healthy when the treatments are complete!)
Amos loves to go for walks and to the lake, and his favorite game is tug o' war. He enjoys chasing a toy when one is thrown to fetch, but is still learning to bring it back instead of lying down and chewing.
He also has terrific house manners. He gets on the furniture only when he's invited, cats don't bother him (he's generally indifferent to them), and he gets along great with Mom and Dad’s mini dachshund Rufus. They play so well together. Overall, Amos is not much of a barker, but he does make it known when something is out of the ordinary.
He's a handsome fellow, with that wonderful Golden personality. He loves ear rubs, back scratches, and any good attention he can get. Occasionally he'll paw at Mom or Dad to let them know he wants attention, and he even likes to gently lay his head in a lap when a human friend is watching TV.
Amos will no doubt be happy in a family with another dog, but will also be fine as an only dog. He's quite tolerant of activity and changes in routine, so Mom says he should be good with children, though this kind of interaction has not yet been tested. He behaves really well when left alone for a while, and has been out of his crate in the house all night several times without misbehaving (no chewing, no “stealing” shoes, no potty “accidents,” etc.).
Mom says: This fellow is an absolute delight for all who meet him. He'll make the perfect companion in virtually any home!”
